Dr. Hahn's reflection of his visit to Northern Ireland and the stone altars that were used in secret by Catholics to celebrate Mass. There was one stone altar that had a nick from a bullet which had killed the priest while he was shielding the Eucharist. We very often overlook or ignore the sacrificial self-offering love from those who gave their lives in their faith journey with God. In our own Church, we need to be more vocal and spirited in our beliefs when we say the "Great Amen", as we have just celebrated and witnessed the re-enactment of Jesus' sacrifice for us. Dr. Hahn's discussion helped me gain a better perspective of how I should be more prayerful at this point in the Mass and appreciative as to why we "do" this in remembrance of Jesus. The most important words in that talk that deeply touched my heart are the ones where the precher talks about second comming of Jesus, and that we do not have to wait for Him at the end of the world, we can meet him everyday during the Holy Mass. It's wonderful to hear "God wants us to be the best version of ourselves". That needs to be said more and more.
