What is Parish Access? (Video)

Parish Access gives Parish Contacts and Parish Consultants the ability to manage their parish program right from the Lighthouse Website! This great resource gives you the power to place kiosk orders, view order history, manage promo codes, view subscription and commission totals, and more. Not only is this intended to simplify the work of our Parish Consultants, but also to empower our customers to place orders and manage their kiosk program!

But we decided not to stop at that ... We also upgraded the shopping experience and intentionally tailored it to parish needs. Its now easier than ever to find the content that’s right for you!

Lets get started!



What is the 'My Parish' Account?

The new “My Parish” account is the customized portal for parish customers. This account can be viewed by all “contacts” that are listed in our system, as well as the Parish Consultant for the parish.

“My Parish” will appear above the navigation bar after the contact or rep signs in and then clicks “Parish Mode” located in the top right of the website. (When the user is in “Individual Mode” they will never see “My Parish”) Clicking on this will take you to the parish portal.

What happens if I have more than one Parish?

After clicking on “My Parish” the “Welcome Page” will open, where you will be prompted to enter as the parish of which you are listed as a contact. Or, if you are a contact or representative for multiple parishes, you will select a parish for the drop down menu. After selecting the Parish you will be shopping/browsing as,you will be able to view and manage all the information for that Parish.

If you have manage multiple parishes you can easily switch between accounts by clicking the “Select Other Parish” button in the upper right corner of the account page.

Where can I find information on a parish? (Video)

After Selecting a Parish, the “Parish Information” page will be displayed. This is where parish addresses and contact information can be viewed, updated, and managed. Only Parish Consultants and the “primary contact” can add or edit addresses and contacts.

The “primary contact” is considered as the Administrator in the Parish Dashboard. They are able to add or edit other contacts that will have permission to the Parish Dashboard. Any additional edits that need to be made to the Parish Account must be made by Customer Service.

If your parish would like to change the “primary” user, please contact Customer Service.



Where can I see my Quotes?

The “Quotes” tab will display any current invoices or quotes that are saved in our system. Quotes can have two possible statuses:

  • Pending: Quotes that were selected as being paid for by check. Our system is awaiting that check so we can apply the payment.
  • Open: Quotes that were saved in the system, but are not marked as being paid for by check.

If you would like edit a quote at a later date, do not mark it as being paid for by check. All “open” quotes can be opened and edited at any time through Parish Access by clicking the “View Quote” button.

You then have the option to edit the Quote by clicking the “Restore Cart” button. Or you can apply payment by clicking the “Pay by Credit Card” button.



How do I view the Order History for a Parish? (Video)

“Order History” allows you to view the history of all the kiosk orders placed by that parish. All future orders placed through the website will show up here, as well as all of your past order history. Order details can be viewed by clicking ‘View Order Details.



How can I manage and view Promo Codes?

The Promo Codes section is where the Parish promo codes can be viewed or created. Subscriptions attached to the promo code can be seen here as well.

Only Parish Consultants and “primary contacts” can create a promo code for a parish.

What is 'Parish Dollars'/How do I see money paid to a specific Promo Code?

The “Parish Dollars” section will show the history of any donation that Lighthouse has paid to the parish for subscriptions or store orders associated with the promo code. (This image below shows this tab without any donations to display.)

What exactly is a 'Mode'?

Let’s start with the most basic question that most of you are probably asking: What exactly is a “Mode”?

A “Mode” simply refers to the general “type” of customer that a user wishes to act as. When it comes to ordering products from Lighthouse, there are two general categories of customers:

  1. “Individuals” that are purchasing content through the Online Store
    1. Most often in smaller quantities
    2. Generally for “personal use”
  2. “Parish” or “Wholesale” customers who order through Parish Consultants:
    1. Access to largely discounted pricing
    2. Usually purchasing for a parish kiosk program and to distributed in bulk in some way
    3. Could include bookstores, schools, Catholic organizations, etc.
    4. Have never been able to place their own orders in the past

The new addition of the two modes of the Lighthouse website gives the user the opportunity to browse our selection of products according to the way that they will be purchasing/using them.

There are four basic “states”that a user can be in while on the Lighthouse website. It is critically important that these four states are understood according to their various permissions and options:

  1. Not Logged In — Individual Mode
    1. The “default” state when a user comes to the site.
    2. A user in this state can browse the store and see all the items that are available to individual customers (but NOT the items that are available only to “parish” customers such as pamphlets, cases of books, etc.)
    3. Although a user in this state can place items in their cart, they cannot “checkout” or submit their order until they login.
    4. A user in this state also cannot rate items or access their customer account.
  2. Not Logged In — Parish Mode
    1. A user in this state is choosing to “act as” a parish, but cannot be verified as an existing parish customer.
    2. A user in this state can browse the items that are available to parishes (such as pamphlets, cases of books, etc)
    3. A user in this state cannot see the parish pricing for these items.
    4. A user in this state cannot place an order for any of these items.
  3. Logged In — Individual Mode
    1. A user in this state can browse items available to individual customers, rate items, view their account, and place an order.
  4. Logged In — Parish Mode
    1. A user in this state has selected to act as a parish and has been verified by our systems as an existing parish customer.
    2. Thus, a user in this state can view items available to parishes, view pricing for these items, and place a kiosk order on behalf of the parish they are acting as.
    3. This is the state that Parish Consultants will be using to unlock the treasures of this new system!

IMPORTANT NOTE: In order to see the “My Parish” account or to place a parish order, one must be logged in with Parish Access. That being said, “State #4” above is referring to a user who is logged in with Parish Access. A user who is logged in without Parish Access and has selected “Parish Mode” is equivalent to State #2 (can view parish item but cannot view parish pricing or place an order).

How do I switch Modes? (Video)

Some of you might be saying, “Well that’s all nice, but hold on a second ... How do I get into a Mode? And how can I tell what mode I’m in?

Good question! Ready for a simple answer? We decided to make this simple and intuitive for you too! First of all, you can easily tell what ‘Mode’ you are in by the way the site looks.

When you’re in Parish Mode, the site color scheme will be green:

What happens if I have items in my cart and I want to switch modes?

Okay, so what happens if I have items in my cart and I want to switch modes?

If you have items in your cart and you switch modes then your cart will be “converted.” This means that if you have items in your cart that are only available in one mode and not the other (e.g. an item only available to purchase by Parishes), then this item will be deleted from your cart upon switching. All of the other items will remain in your cart, but the pricing will change to reflect the price in that mode.

This “cart conversion” can also be accomplished by clicking the button located at the bottom of the cart:

How is Searching different?

Store searching via the search bar has been tremendously improved. We rebuilt our search engine to return Ranked Results, meaning that it takes what you type into it and returns a list of the closest results with the best one right on top! Not only that, but even if you misspell a word, we will search for things that sound like what you typed and return it.

What is 'Autocomplete'?

To take the ease of searching one step further, we now display your search results in real time and adjust them as you type.

What is 'Rapid Order Entry'?

We made it easier than ever to enter large orders right from the cart with Rapid Order Entry. All you have to do is go to your “Cart” and either enter an item SKU or a title, then select the quantity desired. Go, give it a try!

After typing into one of the fields, select from the dropdown the item you intend to order by either clicking the item in the list, or using your keyboard to scroll down and then click “Enter” or “Tab.”

After selecting the item will be added to your cart and then you can adjust the quantity.

Done! (NOTE: You will automatically receive items and pricing that are available to either Parishes or Individuals, depending on the mode you’re in.)

What are filters and how do I use them?

We have made shopping easier than ever by unifying the store and creating product filters which help guide you to the content you’re looking for.

You can now filter by Speakers, Categories, New Releases, All Titles, and even by what type of media you are looking for e.g. Books, CDs, DVDs, etc.

Additionally, we simplified the way you can filter through speakers. Speakers are all alphabetized by last name, all you have to do is select one, and all of their works will be displayed below.

What are 'View Styles' and how do I use them?

We wanted you to be able to customize your shopping experience to fit your needs, so we added “View Styles” so you can control how items are displayed. There are three: List View, Grid View, and Detail View.

Can I purchase Augustine Institute Products or HAPP products through parish access?

No. Parish access is currently only available for Lighthouse CDs and Books. In the future we hope to make all our partner products available in Parish Access, but there is no current release date.
