Put Not Your Trust in Princes

Christopher Check

Speaking from his perspective as a historian, Christopher Check reminds us that the crisis of our age is cultural and, in the end, spiritual. He explains that a flourishing society is not achieved through legislation or at the ballot box, but instead radiates from the family out. Using examples from the ages, he connects us with our rich patrimony as Catholics and provides practical advice on what we must do to transform our culture for Christ.

This talk is exceptional. One of the best! Kent - McHenry, IL
Christopher Check challenged me to consider the problems we face in society and what we can do to turn things around. Rita - Morrison, CO
It was very helpful to learn about some of our Catholic history and how in the past many saints have faced trials and discouragement, as much or more than we do today, yet we're still able to overcome through faith in Jesus Christ. Diego - Markham, ON
On the very precipice of the condition known as SEVENTY (as in, yrs old), I am too often amazed at the teaching of these youngsters. I paid what I thought was pretty good attention, engaged in vigorous, informed and spirited with fellow students, at all levels, particularly in my MA/HRM program. Now I find that I must have forgotten a tad or, I wasn't paying ENOUGH ATTENTION!! On top of all that, I was a US NAVY OFFICER AND PILOT, much like my MARINE brother, CHRIS. His teaching was nothing short of INSPIRED and for me, INSPIRING.Such a command of human and military history woven in and around our CATHOLIC FAITH. BRAVO ZULU CATHOLIC CHRISTIAN SOLDIER!! I look to meet you one day Brother Christopher. Brotherly love in Christ Jesus. John St. Peter, MENS EMMAUS, St John Neumann Parish, Eagan, MN. D John - Eagan, MN
A very good speaker who, you can tell, is very passionate about his topic Tom - Homewood , IL
It was enlightening, straight forward, easy to understand. Speaker was bold, dynamic, humorous, and "tell it like it is" honest. This is so needed today. We have way too much "politically correct" and "tell them what they want to hear" speeches. We need simple honesty in today's world with people who aren't afraid to say it. Kathleen - Blissfield, MI
I always enjoy my monthly Lighthouse offerings, some more than others. But I can honestly say that Put Not Your Trust in Princes was the best yet! It came at a particularly appropriate time, just before out Presidential election with its most distressing choices! Mr. Guest's knowledge of Church history was pure delight, especially in a time when most Catholics can barely name more than a handful of Saints and have no more than a passing knowledge of any of their remarkable lives. His amazing ability as a storyteller brought the Battle of Lepanto to life for me as no previous telling ever had. I could actually SEE Don Juan dancing on the bow of the ship minutes before the battle! In a world and a Church where it is so easy to get discouraged with the state of both, Christopher Guest is sure sent from God to heal the soul sick heart! God Bless you Mr. Guest, keep speaking the truth of eloquently and shaming the devil so thoroughly! Marti - Saint Gabriel, LA
