The Epic Journey of Catholic Explorer Cabeza de Vaca

Craig Turner

In 1527, Spanish explorer Cabeza de Vaca led an expedition to Florida. Craig Turner here tells this amazing story — a tale of shipwrecks and slavery, of miracles, battles, apparitions, privations and hardship, of spies and bribery, of human sacrifice, and above all, an astonishing journey through a wilderness that took all but four lives out of three hundred. Those who sought to gain the most fared the worst, and those who accepted their terrible fate performed miracles.

Customer Comments

Absolutely gripping story of an extraordinary Catholic explorer with an unbelievable faith, traversing wild untamed lands and actually surviving only by the bountiful grace of God! I was on the 'extreme' edge of my seat listening to this! Julie- Sterling, VA
"Absolutely fascinating!" Nancy - Warroad, MN
"Amazing story! A must listen for all." Mickey - Philadelphia, PA
It is so important for all of us to know the impact of our Catholic Faith in history… This is a must hear for all those studying the great explorers. All of history unfolds beautifully in light of the Faith! Julie - St. Petersburg, FL
History comes alive with shocking details of wonder and amazement Norm - Biloxi, MS
I had heard about this great story many years ago, while in South America. Years later I realized it was published in English; this is the first audio I have heard about this not heard enough historical adventure. Vincent - Cromwell, CT
This was a thoroughly interesting and informative talk. I've been trying to find a movie dvd about de Vaca but the prices for those available are prohibitive. John - Weimar, TX
Not only was this fascinating talk an exceptional piece of history of which most people are unaware, it is extraordinarily pertinent to our own times. That those focusing on their own ambitions were lost, that God is active in the direst situations, and acts powerfully through ordinary people is a clarion call for people everywhere to draw close to him. Jean - NC
This particular talk by Mr. Turner was particularly intriguing and interesting because of the non-fictional and historically accurate story of Cabeza de Vaca; particularly because he is a figure that one would never consider to research and/or learn about however the story was truly epic. My wife loved this talk as well; she really enjoyed the history and the story. Casey - Nashville, TN
